SCRIPTURES ABOUT PRAYER

"And Jesus spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint..." Luke 18:1

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." ~ 1 Peter 5:6-7

Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." ~ Jeremiah 33:3

"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." ~ Hebrews 4:16

"And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us:  And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him." ~ 1 John 5:14-15

Jesus said, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:24

THE POWER OF PRAYER

God's word assures us that the Lord loves us and wants us to pray and cast all our burdens upon the Altar of His heart. He hears our prayers and always answers in His own way and time.

I always find it such a comfort to know that even if no one else in the world were praying for me, there is Someone up in Heaven who is always praying for me night and day. He knows my every need and His prayers are always answered.

The Bible says that Jesus is at at the Father's right hand interceding for His children always. "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." Hebrews 7:25

"Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." Romans 8:34

THE PRAYER OF AGREEMENT

There is great power in prayer. Especially in the prayer of agreement.

The Lord Jesus Christ said, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Matthew 18:20

The Lord Jesus is always praying for His children. And the bible affirms that the Holy Spirit is in the hearts of those who have received Jesus as their Savior praying for them.

"And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.  And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will." Romans 8:26-27 (NLT)

Keeping these truths in mind then, when I join my prayers with the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit to intercede for myself and/or others, then I should realize that I have some pretty powerful Prayer Partners! The Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit are  always praying the Father's will alongside my prayers, and I should always pray, "Lord, if it be Thy will..."

I can't lose anything at all by praying ever. No matter how long I may have to wait for the answer to my prayer, God will always draw me closer to His heart through prayer. God will teach me patience, give me more faith and hope, and His Spirit will pour more of His love into my heart as I draw near to Him in prayer.

A very important part of our prayer journey is reading and meditating on God's word. God reveals Himself to us through His word.  Faith and hope are kindled in our heart as we read God's word.

FAITH

"Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17

Reading God's word will help us get to know God. Praying God's word is praying God's will. It will transform our mind and heart and increase our faith. Praying with others is a very comforting, powerful way to pray.

Prayer is the most powerful spiritual tool in the Kingdom of God. No ministry can exist without it, no saint can stand apart from prayer. To pray for each other is to lay down your life for another person in love as the Lord Jesus commanded His followers before His crucifixion. How is praying for another person an act of love? Because we are laying aside our own concerns to ask God to meet another person's need. We are giving up some of our time to intercede on their behalf. Love will sacrifice its own agenda to be about the Father's work.

Jesus said, "This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

You are my friends if you do what I command. John 15:12-14 (NLT)
